We feel that in our society in every sense. Women are constantly feeling insecure. Women are constantly pursuing beauty. Women are concerned about their bodies all the time. They push themselves, hurt themselves, to attain an ultimate, unrealistic level of beauty.
In the ads, TV shows, movies, even news broadcast, we see women being sexually objectified. We see both women and men scrutinize women more harshly than men. We see this thing between women whenever they are in similar positions, not collaboration and appreciation, but competition and tension.
We are wanting the society to change, however we are accepting the phenomenon by pursuing this unrealistic beauty model.
Advertising must be hold accountable for Women and society’s perceptions of women’s beauty. What’s worse is that as women, most of us wake up with the world full of standards of what we should be, without even knowing why we should follow all these things.
In this blog, I am going to mainly focus on making more people aware of the influences of advertising, improving women’s body image, and coming up with creative ways to change the social norms about women’s beauty. I will be posting other great and valuable works related as references as well. If I didn’t properly cite your work, please contact me and I’ll make sure I correct that. Thanks very much for your contribution and thank you all for reading.
Forget about these standards. We are beautiful naturally.
